Pueblo Central has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cheyenne Mountain took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Pueblo Central, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Pueblo Central sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-41 win over Pueblo Centennial. The victory was just what Pueblo Central needed coming off of a 52-20 defeat in their prior contest.
Danee Cowles was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 14 points. Emeri Whiting was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Thursday (Falcon was 24% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Cheyenne Mountain was dealt a 50-21 defeat at the hands of Falcon. Cheyenne Mountain has not had much luck with Falcon recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Ainsley Norton was Cheyenne Mountain's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Lucy Trunnell held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. Trunnell took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
The losses dropped Pueblo Central to 3-2 and Pueblo Centennial to 0-2.
Pueblo Central suffered a grim 54-33 defeat to Cheyenne Mountain when the teams last played back in January of 2022. Thankfully for Pueblo Central, Anila Owens (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
