The Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves will challenge the Port St. Lucie Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oxbridge Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Port St. Lucie will be coming in after a defeat.
Oxbridge Academy will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs back in March, then bounced right back against Miami Country Day last Tuesday. The ThunderWolves put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 16-4 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the ThunderWolves' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Carlo Vasquez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Oxbridge Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-11 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Oxbridge Academy got a massive performance out of Carson Bianco, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The ThunderWolves are 2-1 when Bianco posts two or more runs, but 2-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Blake Sibrecht, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Oxbridge Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.2.
Meanwhile, Port St. Lucie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Edward's. That's two games in a row now that the Jaguars have lost by exactly three runs.
Oxbridge Academy's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11. As for Port St. Lucie, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-16-1.
Everything went Oxbridge Academy's way against Port St. Lucie in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Oxbridge Academy made off with a 15-4 win. Do the ThunderWolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
