Baseball Game Preview: Pinecrest Academy Paladins vs. Horizon Christian Academy Warriors

The Pinecrest Academy Paladins are taking a road trip to square off against the Horizon Christian Academy Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinecrest Academy will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Pinecrest Academy barely beat Lanier Christian Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Paladins put the hurt on the Lightning with a sharp 20-5 win last Thursday. The Paladins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by ten runs or more this season.

Charles Dodson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Matthew Mitchell and Liam McCavitt did most of the damage at the plate: Mitchell got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while McCavitt got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Mitchell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cooper Chupp, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Pinecrest Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Horizon Christian Academy came up short against Scholars Guild Academy last Friday and fell 12-8.

Pinecrest Academy's record is now 12-1. As for Horizon Christian Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7.

Pinecrest Academy suffered a grim 21-4 defeat to Horizon Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Paladins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
