4A Region IV District 30 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Calhoun extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region IV District 30 this week by beating Jones, 39-6. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Sandcrabs.
The Trojans moved up to 646 from 705 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Jones climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Calhoun 39-6.
GARRETT ROTHER put up the best numbers through the air as Victoria West lost to Calallen. He finished with 12 completions for 175 yards and two touchdowns. ROTHER's favorite target this week was JACOB ARMSTRONG, who caught four passes for 53 yards.
Hunter Boerm was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 139 yards on eight carries as Richard Whitaker's team bested Victoria West. Teammate Devian Cantu added to the ground attack by rushing for 116 yards.
Crossland was the best wideout in 4A Region IV District 30 this week as Calallen topped Victoria West. Crossland tallied four receptions for 67 yards. Dallas Winterrowd helped Calallen's passing attack out by catching one ball for five yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback ROTHER of Victoria West is the league leader in passing yards this season with 978. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. On the ground, the Sandcrabs' Boerm has rushed for 1212 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Deondric Lofton. The Victoria East star has 25 catches for 509 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Victoria East takes on Calhoun. As it stands, the Titans are in fifth, while the Sandcrabs are in first.
Gregory-Portland led the league in scoring this week after putting up 39 points on Tuloso-Midway.
