After flying high against the Shawano Community Hawks on Tuesday, the D.C. Everest Evergreens came back down to earth. D.C. Everest took a 69-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wausau West on Friday. D.C. Everest was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wausau West apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wausau West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brett Butalla, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds. The match was Butalla's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Griffin Lange, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
D.C. Everest has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Wausau West, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. D.C. Everest will face off against Chippewa Falls at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Chippewa Falls has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2. As for Wausau West, they will head out on the road to face off against Wausau East at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wausau East will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
