The Walla Walla Blue Devils lost against the Kamiakin Braves back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Walla Walla fell 60-50 to the Braves. It was the first time this season that Walla Walla let down their fans at home.
Walla Walla lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Miriam Hutchens, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cami Martin, who scored 17 points.
Kamiakin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emaunii Smith led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Nicole Wertenberger was another key contributor, scoring 26 points.
Walla Walla's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Kamiakin, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 17-1.
