Given Syracuse Academy of Science's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Utica Academy of Science is ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Utica Academy of Science's loss came despite strong showings from Doneilious King j.r and Jazier Brown. King j.r scored 21 points along with six assists and two steals, while Brown went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 1 assist. The team also got some help courtesy of Akol Machteng, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Utica Academy of Science were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Syracuse Academy of Science's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Utica Academy of Science, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Syracuse Academy of Science will take on Henninger at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Henninger is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Utica Academy of Science, they will be playing at home against Bishop Grimes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Grimes has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 319 points over their last five games.
