Mountain View is 2-8 against Bend since May of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Cougars will host the Lava Bears at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Friday, Mountain View got the win against Crook County by a conclusive 13-1. Considering the Cougars have won 14 matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Blaire Eckman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Cadence Kennedy was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Keilah McCarthy was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crook County only posted an OBP of .292.
Meanwhile, Bend made easy work of Crook County on Tuesday and carried off a 15-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Lava Bears in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won seven in a row.
Like Mountain View, Bend also got a great game from a two-way player: McKenna Nye. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Nye was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, Ava White and Cass Sandgren did most of the damage at the plate: White went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Sandgren went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was White's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Shayn Hickey, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Mountain View's win bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Bend, their victory bumped their record up to 8-13.
Mountain View's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bend, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mountain View continue to outrun the ball?
Mountain View beat Bend 12-8 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Lava Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
