Given Midland Legacy's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 58th, while San Angelo Central is ranked 371st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Damien Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 186 yards and five touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jaden Rogers, who rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why San Angelo Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Christian English. Despite the final result, he threw for 266 yards and a touchdown, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. English is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last five games he's played.
Midland Legacy's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for San Angelo Central, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Midland Legacy will be playing in front of their home fans against Midland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Midland is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for San Angelo Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Permian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Permian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully San Angelo Central likes a good challenge.
