Cartersville is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Hiram is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cartersville Hurricanes will take on the Hiram Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cartersville should still be feeling good after a big win, while Hiram will be looking to get back into the win column.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Cartersville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 21-14 victory over Cass. 21 seems to be a good number for Cartersville as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cartersville to victory, but perhaps none more so than A'darrian Taylor-wilson, who picked up 83 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Taylor-wilson's longest reception was for an incredible 73 yards.
Meanwhile, Hiram pushed their score all the way to 35 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 56-35 walloping at the hands of Calhoun. Hiram was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kaden Hamilton, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Hamilton is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Tyler, who picked up 164 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Cartersville's victory on Friday bumped their record up to 7-0. Having lost for the first time this season, Hiram fell to 6-1.
Cartersville strolled past Hiram in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 44-26. Will Cartersville repeat their success, or does Hiram have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
