Basketball Recap: David Crockett Skates Past Elizabethton with Ease

David Crockett won the last time they faced Elizabethton and things went their way on Tuesday too. The David Crockett Pioneers took their contest with ease, bagging a 77-37 win over the Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Leading David Crockett to victory were Brylee Tullock and Bella Ferguson. Tullock went 8 of 19 en route to 21 points and five rebounds, while Ferguson posted 13 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. Those four steals gave Ferguson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Story, who scored 12 points and five boards.

David Crockett smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

David Crockett pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Elizabethton, they moved to 5-9 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. David Crockett has already played their next contest (against Sullivan East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Elizabethton will face off against Tennessee at 6:30 p.m. on January 21st.
