The South Stokes Sauras will square off against the Chatham Central Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Stokes is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, South Stokes came up short against Fort Chiswell and fell 10-5.
Reid Tilley put in work no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Tucker Monday made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of South Stokes' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Levi Bailey, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Chatham Central waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 12-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won six games by nine runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Brett Phillips, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Westley Brower, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Chatham Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
South Stokes has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Chatham Central, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
South Stokes' speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Sauras have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Chatham Central, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will South Stokes continue to outrun the ball?
South Stokes got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Chatham Central by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Sauras have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
