The East Clarendon Wolverines will head out on the road to take on the Cross Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Clarendon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Cross is ranked 129th).
Last Friday, East Clarendon was the victim of a rough 60-34 loss at the hands of Scott's Branch. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Clarendon in their matchups with Scott's Branch: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, Cross' good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to Burke 43-39. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cross has scored all season.
The losing side was boosted by Caden Ramsey, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. He hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Micah Flute, who scored three points along with 14 rebounds.
East Clarendon's loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Cross, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5.
East Clarendon barely slipped by Cross when the teams last played back in December of 2021, winning 48-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Clarendon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
