Football Recap: Kinston Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Kinston can now relate to. They were dealt a 48-21 defeat at the hands of the Whiteville Wolfpack on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since August 23rd.

Kinston's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Jones, who threw for 344 yards and two touchdowns. That's the most passing yards Jones has posted since back in September. A healthy portion of Jones' aerial production (168 yards to be exact) went to Tyreek Copper, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

The loss snapped Kinston's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-5 record. As for Whiteville, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Kinston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Whiteville, they will square off against Northeastern at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Northeastern has won nine straight at home, while Whiteville won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
