Softball Recap: Red Mountain Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Red Mountain got themselves on the board against Westwood on Thursday, but Westwood never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Mountain Lions, who have now won six contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Payton Westra was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chloe Ftizpatrick, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Red Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .440 or higher in four consecutive games.

Red Mountain pushed their record up to 9-3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Westwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8-1.

Red Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-0 victory against Kofa on the 4th. As for Westwood, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Shadow Ridge on the 4th.
