Given Washington's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Cardinal Mooney is ranked 522nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Washington was led to victory by La Nia Moore and Makiya Edwards. Moore dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, while Edwards dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Edwards' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Telia Russell, who scored 11 points.
Washington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Cardinal Mooney, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
