The Buckingham Knights waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Nottoway by a score of 65-52. For Buckingham, this counts as revenge for the 74-68 defeat Nottoway walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Nottoway's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anton Carter Jr., who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Carter Jr. hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Jahmarion Wright, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Buckingham's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. As for Nottoway, they have fallen quite a ways from their 16-5 record last season and are now at 3-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckingham will take on Appomattox County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Nottoway, Nottoway and Lunenburg Central will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lunenburg Central is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
