Mourning have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will look to defend their home turf on Thursday against Goleman at 3:30 PM. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps state rankings project a close match.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 0-53, which was the final score in Mourning's tilt against Jackson two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Goleman took the game and then some with a 41-0 victory last Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-0.
Goleman's win lifted them to 2-0 while Mourning's defeat dropped them down to 0-2. In Goleman's win, junior Zachary Valcarcel caught passes for 109 yards and 3 touchdowns and junior Anthony Hernandez passed for 187 yards and 3 touchdowns. We'll see if Mourning have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
