The Stanhope Elmore Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Wetumpka Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Stanhope Elmore took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Rehobeth as they made off with a 47-26 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Stanhope Elmore didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Joidaden Carter-Stone. He has been hot for a while, having also posted six or more total tackles the last 11 times he's played.
Meanwhile, Wetumpka entered their tilt with Park Crossing on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Thunderbirds 41-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Indians' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 274th).
Wetumpka's win came from a few key players Stanhope Elmore will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Charles Skipper, who threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns. He has become a key player for Wetumpka: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Jordan Smoke helped Skipper out on the ground, rushing for 75 yards and one score on only ten carries.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Wetumpka proved: they limited Park Crossing to a paltry 2.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Walter Myrick for the heroic effort on defense: he. Wetumpka didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.1.
Wetumpka's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Myrick and Keiland Thompson, who racked up five sacks between them. Another thorn in Park Crossing's side was Bobo Browning, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made five total tackles.
Stanhope Elmore's record now sits at 5-3. As for Wetumpka, their record is now an identical 5-3.
Things could have been worse for Stanhope Elmore, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 27-13 loss to Wetumpka in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Mustangs, Jimmy King (who rushed for 152 yards and a pair of TDs) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
