Cypress Woods is a perfect 10-0 against Cypress Lakes since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Wildcats will welcome the Spartans at 11:00 a.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Cypress Woods had taken Langham Creek down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. The Wildcats fell 28-19 to the Lobos. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Defeat or not, Cypress Woods got some senior leadership from Darien Rogers and Coby Guillory. Rogers threw for 214 yards on 15 of 26 attempts, while Guillory picked up 149 receiving yards. Guillory showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 66 yards.

Even if they lost, Cypress Woods' defense still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. In that department, Thomason Strickland was the leader with two. Strickland is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. Aiden Haby was another major factor on D, forcing two fumbles and making seven total tackles (1.5 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Cypress Lakes had to suffer through a 54-21 loss at the hands of Waller.
Loss or not, Cypress Lakes got some senior leadership from Jimmy Alarcon and Cj Lewis. Alarcon threw for 198 yards and three touchdowns, while Lewis picked up 98 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Cypress Woods' defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Cypress Lakes, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Cypress Woods has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 192 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cypress Lakes struggles in that department as they've been averaging 174.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Cypress Woods beat Cypress Lakes 21-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
