After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lyford, the Santa Rosa Warriors were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Progreso by a score of 36-28. For Santa Rosa, this counts as revenge for the 42-36 defeat Progreso walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Santa Rosa's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Garza, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Garza is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amber Mendoza, who scored six points.
Santa Rosa is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-15 record this season. As for Progreso, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-11.
Santa Rosa will head out on the road to take on IDEA Sports Park at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. IDEA Sports Park comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Progreso, they will be playing at home against IDEA Weslaco Pike at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
