Basketball Recap: Mater Dei Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

Mater Dei won the last time they faced Metro-East Lutheran and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Mater Dei Knights took down the Metro-East Lutheran Knights 47-30.

Mater Dei's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Peppenhorst, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points in addition to seven boards and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Peppenhorst a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Brefeld, who posted nine points and three steals.

Metro-East Lutheran's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Thijson Heard, who earned 12 points. That was a full 40% of Metro-East Lutheran's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Junior Brown, who scored eight points.
