Softball Recap: Elyria Has No Trouble Against Magnificat

Elyria had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Magnificat on Wednesday. The Pioneers blew past the Blue Streaks 16-3. The contest marked the Pioneers' most dominant victory of the season.

Morgan Palos was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Trujillo, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Elyria was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Magnificat only posted a batting average of .278.

Elyria's win bumped their record up to 7-16. As for Magnificat, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15.

Elyria and Magnificat could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Pioneers (ranked 399th) will meet Berea-Midpark (ranked 61st) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Magnificat will square off against North Royalton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (385 vs. 91).
