Paxton is 9-1 against Hitchcock County since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Paxton Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Hitchcock County Falcons at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Paxton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
Paxton's and Wallace's game was close at halftime, but Paxton turned on the heat in the second half with 41 points. Paxton blew past Wallace 72-46. Paxton's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Paxton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Eakins, who scored 24 points. Another player making a difference was Tanner Hebblethwaite, who scored 14 points along with three blocks and two steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Hitchcock County, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-44 loss to Alma on Friday. Hitchcock County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Paxton pushed their record up to 7-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Hitchcock County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Paxton was able to grind out a solid victory over Hitchcock County when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 51-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Paxton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
