Last Friday, things could have been worse for Spring Valley, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-37 loss to the Crusaders. Spring Valley has struggled against the Crusaders recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jada Green, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Charolette Delisle, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Bishop Gorman faced the Patriots in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bishop Gorman walked away with a 32-25 win over the Patriots on Friday. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Bishop Gorman has scored all year.
Bishop Gorman found their leader in underclassman Addysen Carr, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Carr hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Savannah Searcy was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Spring Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Bishop Gorman, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Spring Valley have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bishop Gorman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
