Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 15 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Pikes Peak Christian Eagles proved on Saturday. They put the hurt on Miami-Yoder with a sharp 56-36 win. With Pikes Peak Christian ahead 33-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Pikes Peak Christian can attribute much of their success to Eddie Harmon, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Harmon has scored at least 25% of Pikes Peak Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Wehner, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Miami-Yoder lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caleb Bernhart. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cesar Beltran, who scored 5 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Pikes Peak Christian and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Miami-Yoder, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pikes Peak Christian will square off against Colorado Springs School at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
