Softball Recap: North Schuylkill Continues Home Dominance on Monday

North Schuylkill came out on top against Berwick on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Spartans have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Olivia Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Jordanna Frie was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Brigid Flynn was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

North Schuylkill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berwick only posted an OBP of .292.

North Schuylkill pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Berwick, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Schuylkill will square off against Pine Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Berwick, they are taking a road trip to take on Greater Nanticoke Area at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
