The Wilson Prep Tigers posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Southeast Halifax as Wilson Prep made off with a 59-37 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wilson Prep also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Wilson Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jessica Atkinson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals. Atkinson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Janiya Johnson, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Southeast Halifax lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kemorriya Evans. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Evans hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Iyana Harrison was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Wilson Prep's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Southeast Halifax, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Wilson Prep will head out on the road to challenge Northampton County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Northampton County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games. As for Southeast Halifax, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Rocky Mount Prep at 6:00 p.m. Rocky Mount Prep is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
