Even though the Baker Hornets have not done well against the LeFlore Rattlers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Baker put the hurt on LeFlore with a sharp 67-46 win. Given Baker's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while LeFlore is ranked 154th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Derrick Florence lll, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lovalle Nelson jr, who scored 12 points.
Baker is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for LeFlore, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.
Baker will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Davidson at 7:30 p.m. Davidson is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for LeFlore, they will head out on the road to face off against Faith Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Faith Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
