The Grand Junction Central Warriors gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. Everything went their way against Summit as Grand Junction Central made off with a 61-36 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Grand Junction Central also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Grand Junction Central was led to victory by Blake Rooks and Camren Redding. Rooks scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds, while Redding scored 11 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Kidd, who scored 7 points.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hank Chabot, who scored 13 points. Sam Eldredge was another key contributor, scoring 5 points.
Grand Junction Central's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Summit, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Grand Junction Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Rifle at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Allowing an average of 77 points per game, Rifle has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this contest. Summit won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Grand Junction at 6:30 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Grand Junction focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday.
