Antigo is 0-10 against Mosinee since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Antigo Red Robins will be home for the holidays to greet the Mosinee Indians at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Antigo had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-47 win over Ashland on Tuesday.
Mosinee has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 29 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 94-65 victory over Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln on the road. Given Mosinee's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln is ranked 279th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mosinee to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keagen Jirschele, who scored 26 points along with five assists and three steals. The game was Jirschele's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Landen Thomer was another key contributor, dropping a triple-double on 14 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists.
Antigo's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Mosinee, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Antigo was taken down by Mosinee 77-39 in their previous matchup back in January. Can Antigo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
