Preslynn Baker was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Sergent was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. JoEllen Erskin also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Moore Haven hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frostproof struck out 12 times.
While Glades Day didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Atlantic Christian with a sharp 18-5 victory on Tuesday. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 13 runs or more this season.
Like Moore Haven, Glades Day also got a great game from a two-way player: Kristabella Flournah. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Flournah was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Glades Day let Juliet Alegria and Reilly Baltazar run wild. Alegria scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Baltazar scored three runs and stole Six bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. With that strong performance, Baltazar is now averaging an impressive 1.8 stolen bases per game. Azariah Upshur was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-2.
Glades Day pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14.8 runs. As for Moore Haven, their record now sits at 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Moore Haven has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Glades Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Moore Haven's way against Glades Day in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Moore Haven made off with a 13-1 victory. Will Moore Haven repeat their success, or does Glades Day have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
