After a string of seven wins, Horizon Science Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. 2025 welcomed they with a 69-46 loss courtesy of the West Muskingum Tornadoes. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hawks have suffered since March 4, 2024.

Kyle Porter was a one-man wrecking crew for West Muskingum as he went 11 for 17 on his way to 23 points. Those 23 points gave Porter a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Smith, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards.

Horizon Science Academy's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4. As for West Muskingum, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Horizon Science Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-59 loss against Lancaster on the 4th. As for West Muskingum, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-39 defeat against Heath on the 4th.
