The Mount Union Trojans will face off against the Tussey Mountain Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mount Union's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Tussey Mountain's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Mount Union's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on McConnellsburg with a sharp 8-0 victory. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Payton Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5. That run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylynn Wharton, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Callie Trego, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Tussey Mountain narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Southern Fulton 10-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.
Like Mount Union, Tussey Mountain also got a great game from a two-way player: Joslyn Raley. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and two unearned) runs off 13 hits (and only one walk). Raley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Brianna Gabrielson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Olivia Mills was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
The win got Mount Union back to even at 2-2. As for Tussey Mountain, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mount Union has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tussey Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mount Union skirted past Tussey Mountain 3-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
