The Centennial Coyotes will be taking part in a tournament against the Millennium Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Centennial saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mica Mountain. The loss was the Coyotes' first of the season.
Liu Rodriguez Jr made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Bobby Villa III, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Millennium put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Mingus 15-1.
Aden Beard looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Landon Swinheart was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with seven RBI, four runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Ornelas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one triple.
Millennium always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mingus only posted an OBP of .286.
Having lost for the first time this season, Centennial fell to 2-1. As for Millennium, their record now sits at 3-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Centennial has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Millennium struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
