Football Recap: Immokalee Skates Past Gateway with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Immokalee). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Gateway Eagles 49-7. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Immokalee can attribute much of their success to Chris Germinal, who rushed for 44 yards and one score, and also threw for 102 yards on seven of 12 attempts.

Germinal was just one part of a punishing run game: Immokalee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 222 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 222 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Immokalee's record is now 3-1. As for Gateway, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Immokalee will head out to challenge Golden Gate at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Indians' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Gateway, they will venture away from home to face off against Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
