After both having extra time off, The Rockhurst Hawklets and the Lee's Summit West Titans will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Rockhurst will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
Rockhurst had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year. They took down St. Louis University 40-22 two weeks ago. Given Rockhurst's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while St. Louis University is ranked 27th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rockhurst's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Hansen, who threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Bichelmeyer, who picked up 121 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Lee's Summit West had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year. They were outmatched by Liberty North at home and fell 43-12. Lee's Summit West has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lee's Summit West's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tayveon Simms, who picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Caden Carter who threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Simms' longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards.
Rockhurst's win bumped their season record to 7-1 while Lee's Summit West's defeat dropped theirs to 7-2.
Rockhurst beat Lee's Summit West 21-10 in their previous matchup back in October of 2021. Will Rockhurst repeat their success, or does Lee's Summit West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
