Pine View is 8-2 against Crimson Cliffs since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers will host the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Pine View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season.
Pine View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Dixie, who was ranked fourth at the time (Pine View was ranked 17th). The Panthers managed a 58-52 victory over the Flyers on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Pine View's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kenedy Eves, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards, and Ella Fiefia, who shot 67% from the field on her way to 15 points and six rebounds. Eves has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Reese Gustin, who posted seven points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, Crimson Cliffs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost to Snow Canyon at home by a 56-39 margin.
Pine View will need to focus on slowing down Josie Myers, one of several Crimson Cliffs players who made an impact when they last played. She dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. Jayda Alofipo was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.
Crimson Cliffs' loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Pine View, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Pine View has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Crimson Cliffs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Pine View barely slipped by Crimson Cliffs when the teams last played back in December of 2025, winning 49-48. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Myers, who put up 16 points in addition to seven blocks and six rebounds.
