Glen Rose is 7-1 against Centerpoint since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Glen Rose Beavers will head out on the road to face off against the Centerpoint Knights at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Glen Rose's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six games.
Last Friday, Glen Rose got themselves on the board against Two Rivers, but Two Rivers never followed suit. They really took it to the Gators for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-0 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Glen Rose, who have now won five contests by 31 points or more so far this season.
Glen Rose relied on the efforts of Heath Ballance, who rushed for 77 yards and three touchdowns, and Roger Thomas, who rushed for 82 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Ballance was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Glen Rose also got a significant boost from Paxton Long, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 115 yards.
Meanwhile, Centerpoint entered their tilt with Paris with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Centerpoint came out on top against Paris by a score of 28-21 on Friday.
Centerpoint's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drew Diggs led the charge by throwing for 178 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Bryce Harless, who picked up 72 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Glen Rose to 6-2 and Centerpoint to 5-3.
Everything came up roses for Glen Rose against Centerpoint in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 42-15 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Glen Rose since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
