Nichols was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight  defeat. They took  a  10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nardin Academy Gators.  On Nardin Academy's side,  Mia Gilham was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She  struck out 13 batters over  six innings while giving up  three earned  (and two unearned) runs off   eight  hits. Gilham was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Molly Griffin was a standout: she scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Emily Gorman, who  went 2-for-4 with two  runs, a  triple,  and a  stolen base.
 Nichols' defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Nardin Academy, the  win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
 Nichols will play host again  on Tuesday to welcome Mount St. Mary Academy, where first pitch is scheduled  at 4:30  p.m. Nichols has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Nardin Academy, they will be playing at home against Bishop Kearney at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average, (Nardin Academy: 2.4, Bishop Kearney: 1.4) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
