Woden is 1-9 against Shelbyville since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eagles will take on the Dragons at 6:30 p.m. Woden is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
Woden had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt East Texas Homeschool Sports on Saturday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Chargers. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Brayden Dichard made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Woden let Landon Williams and Caedyn Stewart run wild. Williams went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Stewart went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Stewart a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaesyn Kennedy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Woden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Shelbyville and Kirbyville finished up their contest with a 2-2 tie on Saturday.
Woden's record is now 4-1. With that tie, Shelbyville's record moves to 2-2-1.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Woden has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. However, it's not like Shelbyville struggles in that department as they've averaged .492. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Woden might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Shelbyville in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
