After flying high against the Kirkwood Cobras last Friday, the Springfield Yellow Jackets came back down to earth. Springfield took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rossview on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Springfield of the 66-35 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture last Wednesday.
Despite the loss, Springfield still got an impressive performance from Rayne Erickson, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Micayla Harrison, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Springfield was without their leading scorer, Shemauria Pope, in Tuesday's matchup. With Pope sitting this one out, Katelyn Diviney got some extra time on the court (20 vs. her season average of 8.69).
Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Rossview, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will take on West Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rossview's road trip will continue as they head out to face Northwest at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th.
