The Santa Fe Raiders struggled with threes on Wednesday (the Columbia Tigers had 500% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Santa Fe took a serious blow against Columbia, falling 73-31. Santa Fe has struggled against Columbia recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Brooke Zeller and Natalie Chohan certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Zeller scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds, while Chohan scored 11 points.
Columbia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was ZURI HOLLIE out in front who scored 20 points along with 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which HOLLIE has scored at least 25% of Columbia's points. The team also got some help courtesy of AYESHA BROXEY, who scored 15 points along with 7 assists and 3 steals.
Santa Fe's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Columbia, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Fe will take on Eastside at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Eastside presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Santa Fe in Florida (Eastside is ranked 201st, while Santa Fe is ranked 433rd). As for Columbia, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Baker County at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Baker County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 36 on Thursday.
