Thomas Boles of Lake Gibson ran for the longest rushing play in 6A District 10 this season against Tenoroc last week. Boles scampered for 61 yards on the play and finished with 91 on the day as his team defeated the Titans.
Lake Gibson extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Tenoroc, 47-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
The Braves' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Trey Congdon threw for 181 and two touchdowns and Eric Carter had 102 yards receiving. On the ground Tyler Brown chipped in 121 yards. Jordan Smith helped Lake Gibson's passing attack out by catching four balls for 52 yards.
Lake Gibson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Braves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Congdon has thrown for 802 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Carter has 25 catches for 447 yards. Brown leads the league in rushing with 550 yards.
The top two teams in 6A District 10 will face off this week when first place Winter Haven takes on second place Lake Gibson. Last week, Winter Haven, while Lake Gibson beat Dave Robson's team.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Braves take on the Blue Devils. Lake Gibson has allowed 54 points this season, while Winter Haven has given up 31. The Braves allowed 0 points last week as they topped the Titans.
Kathleen moved up to 142 from 187 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 35-10 win over Haines City helped the Devils /Red improve their standing.
