Maria Carrillo has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Montgomery Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Maria Carrillo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
Last Friday, Maria Carrillo was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-47 to Windsor. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Maria Carrillo in their matchups with Windsor: they've now lost six in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nathan Dipman, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Jackson Hunt was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, even though Miramonte scored an imposing 57 points on Saturday, Montgomery still came out on top. Montgomery walked away with a 64-57 win over Miramonte. Given Montgomery's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Miramonte is ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Maria Carrillo's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Montgomery, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3.
Maria Carrillo was dealt a bruising 73-34 defeat at the hands of Montgomery when the teams last played on January 3rd. Can Maria Carrillo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
