Basketball Recap: Afton Piles Up the Points Against Oaks-Mission

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Afton). They blew past the Oaks-Mission Warriors 82-24 on Thursday. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 68-58 victory the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2016.

Afton found their leader in sophomore Aiden Victor, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 17 points in addition to 11 steals and ten assists. Those ten assists set a new season-high mark for Victor. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricky Barton, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 12 points.

Afton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Afton's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Oaks-Mission, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Afton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-39 victory against Watts on the 14th. As for Oaks-Mission, they will venture away from home to face off against Welch at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
