Basketball Game Preview: Moffat County Bulldogs vs. Coal Ridge Titans

Moffat County hasn't had much luck against Coal Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Moffat County Bulldogs will square off against the Coal Ridge Titans at 7:00 p.m. Moffat County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Moffat County didn't have quite enough to beat Steamboat Springs and fell 50-48. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jayden Evenson, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Kenyen Camilletti, who went 6 of 14 en route to 15 points.

Meanwhile, Coal Ridge had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They came out on top against the Bears by a score of 60-53. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by exactly seven points.

Coal Ridge's win came from a few key players Moffat County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ben Simons, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Cornejo, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points.

Moffat County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Coal Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Moffat County was dealt a bruising 76-47 loss at the hands of Coal Ridge when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Moffat County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
