It was a good run, but the Stratford Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 73-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maplewood. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Stratford's loss came despite strong showings from Hannah Johnson and Taniya Roberts. Johnson scored 21 points, while Roberts scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amya Williams, who scored 7 points.
Stratford's loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Maplewood, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Stratford will head out on the road to face off against Overton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Maplewood, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Knowledge Academies at 6:00 p.m. Knowledge Academies comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
