Two dominant signal callers in Cliff Tadema and Mason Wilson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sedro-Woolley Cubs will be playing at home against the Mountlake Terrace Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mountlake Terrace will be up against a hot Sedro-Woolley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to eight. The Cubs blew past Ferndale 33-7 on Friday. Given the Cubs' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 98th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sedro-Woolley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kolyn Rochester, who rushed for 112 yards on only nine carries, and also picked up 31 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Ethan Dejong, who rushed for 67 yards and one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sedro-Woolley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ferndale only rushed for 109.
Meanwhile, Mountlake Terrace hadn't done well against Edmonds-Woodway recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Hawks claimed a resounding 45-7 victory over the Warriors. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Hawks just coasted through the last quarter.
Sedro-Woolley better keep an eye on Owen Boswell. He was instrumental in Mountlake Terrace's win, rushing for 213 yards and four TDs while picking up 13.3 yards per carry, and also picking up 30 receiving yards and one touchdown. Boswell is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last five games he's played.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mountlake Terrace's defense and their three sacks. Jackson Wallis refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Sedro-Woolley's record now sits at 8-0. As for Mountlake Terrace, their record is now an identical 8-0.
Everything came up roses for Sedro-Woolley against Mountlake Terrace in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 40-0 win. Will the Cubs repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
