The Smyer Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 83-32 defeat at the hands of Floydada. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Smyer in their matchups with the Whirlwinds: they've now lost four in a row.
Floydada's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sergio Valadez led the charge by scoring 20 points along with five steals. Tyrean Henderson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds.
Smyer has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season. As for Floydada, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 21-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smyer will take on the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sudan is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Floydada, they will be playing at home against the Jackrabbits at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Ralls will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1349th, while the Whirlwinds are ranked 363rd).
